Palio Small Plate, The Panther

These were the plates my mom reserved for special occasions when we were growing up. The history of Palio di Siena Italian ceramics dates back to the 13thC when fans would gather to watch bareback horse races in Siena's central square. The animals on these plates reference the coats of arms borne by the jockeys.
